THE WATCH WITH TWO SOULS:REVERSO BY JAGER LE COULTRE

The technical knowledge for its own sake has never had great value. However, when it manages to combine elegant and innovative solutions to solve real problems, then that’s where the myth and the legend was born without end …

The Reverso, the famous clock in the home of Le Sentier in the Canton of Vaud (CH), was born out of a need for English Polo players stationed in India for instance at the beginning of the 30s. They threw the challenge to create a watch that would stand for the absolute attention to detail, but able to withstand extreme vivacity of their game. Here’s an innovative idea, never proposed before; with just a touch, it became possible to protect the delicate glass from the violent shock, tilting it, thus appear with the solid and durable case. The clock does not, however, remained the preserve of only the sport, becoming a true icon of the Art Deco. If fact, with the introduction of the sapphire its primary function was less, the seduction emanating from the watch with the possibility to beautify its multiple faces grew exponentially. Over the years, the particularity of this beautiful object has been exploited in several ways, using the second side to reveal incredible movements as in the case of Reverso Gyrotourbillion 2. The clock then rotate no more to protect the precious crystal, but to show a second face, perhaps, even more amazing than the first.
The “secret” space available in this particular timepiece, allowing a great degree of customization, in fact, the house offers the possibility of having the most sophisticated arts and decorative techniques, such as hand engraving, the sertissage and enamel miniature . Over the years, many prominent personalities have chosen this timepiece as a personal watch, leaving engraved traces of its history, as in the case of King Edward VII of England or the aviatrix Amelia Earhart that made affect the route non-stop flight that undertaken by Mexico to New York in 1935.

The collection of the Reverso, since the first model to date, there has been much enriched with pieces of exceptional beauty for him and for her. We recall in this regard the Ultra Thin Tribute to 1931, the Reverso Squadra World Chronograph Polo Fields, the Reverso Squadra Lady and the Reverso Grande Neva.

Finally, a clock with two souls, suitable for those people who like to wear on their wrist an object that hides a most intimate, hidden from the eyes of many, but extremely important for your own personal history.
