The latest season of the Fall/Winter New York Fashion Week defined a lot of what we are going to wear in the next couple of months. Marsala colour is definitely one of the key trends from New York’s runaways, as well as other colours such as light blue and amethyst or a darker colour palette which runs the gamut from light grey to intense black. Besides, 70s style furs and coats proved to be proper must-haves for this season.
One of the most influencing brands from the F/W 2015 NYFW is Alexander Wang, constantly inspired by punk, goth and heavy metal fashion. Wang’s all-black collection is made of mini and midi-length dresses, plaid sleeveless jackets, leather and chenille tops. The brand also proposed fur collars and sporty-chic maxi coats.
Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, owners of the label The Row and winners of a 2015 CFDA Fashion Award, presented their collection, characterized by a warm, earth tone colour palette and the prevalence of kimono-style jackets with leather belts and nightgown-like floor-length coats.
Unique and glamourous, that’s the collection by Narciso Rodriguez: minimalist lines creating an ultra-lean silhouette and predominantly black and white India-inspired clothes.
Another interesting collection was the one presented by Proenza Schouler: influenced by abstract expressionism, it put art references in its clothes full of overlapping fabrics and panels. The garments, all predominantly in dark colours, have raw hems and layered lines which, together with the thick fishnet stockings, infuse the entire collection with an abstract style.
All these characteristics described above definitely represent the top trends for this season’s fashion that we are going to find and love in the stores.
