As usual, this year we focus on the most prestigious event in Haute Horlogerie in the world, namely the Basel Fair, for all known as Baselworld. The novelties are numerous, and several are the proposed innovations ranging from the most refined high watchmaking realizations in timepieces that are characterized by important improvements from a technical and aesthetic point of view. With you today, we are going to discover the new watches signed by Rolex and Patek Philippe.
The first brand on which we want to talk about is the timeless Rolex. This year the house is celebrating the happening accomplished in 1927 by Mercedes Gleitz, who crossed the English Channel with a Rolex Oyster watch. Just to remind that occasione, the Geneva House proposes a new Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller with red lettering, like the debut version.
Another change concerns the Oyster Perpetual Yacht- Master II that it was presented with the new dial with white background, sports chiseled hands and new indexes. Icon watch for lovers of sailing and boats; it mounts one of the most complex movements that integrates the countdown complication, it’s used to determine accurately the start of a race.
Of note also the new model in the Cellini collection, called Moonphase, that integrates for the first time the complication relating to the phases of the moon and the new Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust 28 which is enriched with a new movement and is presented with a very feminine dial, colored pink champagne.
The second brand we want to talk is the evergreen Patek Philippe that launches a new edition of Aquanaut Travel Time which presents special technical innovations such as the new spring of the balance called Spiromax made in Silinvar material ( a particular alloy, derived from silicon).
In conclusion we can say that 2017 is an important year for international haute horlogerie. Of course, the article is only an excerpt of the countless models presented in Switzerland. We hope that, as a great appetizer, it has whetted your appetite and the desire to discover what new offers the art world to mark time.
Until next time!
